Ladies and Gentlemen, We all know the importance of playtesting our decks before we take them out into the “Real World” and try to beat faeries with an 8 year old slow bastard with nothing but 10/10 creatures. This is why I’m going to give you a few links you can use to playtest your decks online.

I mean, look, it DOES get old having to dig out the cards and build a deck every time you want to playtest it. There are a few options here:

A) Can you play Magic The Gathering Online Free….nope. It’s just like World of Warcraft or any other online game. Unless you’ve got a private server…meaning no opponenets.. you can.t

B) Can you use a different program? Hell yeah you can. http://www.magic-league.com/

Ok Ok, so it isn’t actually “Magic The Gathering Online” for free but it’s an online community where you can test and playtest your decks against multiple opponents. It’s also…free! This can come in handy if you’re gonna have a big play tournment coming up. I did some research on this and I even found out that some professional Magic The Gathering players use this Magic Software to playtest…of course…with MTGO. Until next time, Enjoy!

This delicious piece of Magic: The Gathering Software was published in the year 1997….I know…super long ago. I bet the dinosaurs had fun playing this one…bwahahahah.

Anyway…You play a Planeswalker stuck in the Plate of Shandalar, and you basically have to run your booty off finding enemies, killing them and taking their cards. This game had a unique twist to it though. Instead of trying to focus on just one color, you had to balance them all and prevent colors from gaining too much dominance or power over the others. If you’re the type of gamer that’s into vintage or old-school back to the grassroots style games, this game is for you. Hot damn!

This is another good one folks. This game came out earlier this year for the Xbox Live Arcade. It’s basically an adaptation of the Core game and follows the rules directly. Each virtual deck consists of land and spells and yada yada yada. The developers of this Xbox 360 Arcade Magic the Gathering Software piece describe it as an “arcade” game at heart.

There are a few things that make this game worth playing even though it has the same rules as the card game. Lands tap automatically! (WHAT? how awesome!), you can use in-game prconstructed decks (sweet), and you can unlock new proconstructs that you didn’t have before. Essentially, instead of buying magic the gathering cards, you play to unlock them. It doesn’t get any better than that my friends. Free cards for just playing the game. Smack my ass and call me sally.

Also, since it’s a highly evolved magic the gathering software program, just like magic the gathering online, you don’t have to worry about your opponent cheating or manipulating the rules. (take that deck stackers). I’d recommend it. 

Alright gamers, this is the mother of all the Magic The Gathering Software that have come out over the years (so far). I’ve been playing the traditional magic The Gathering Card Game for years and this is the game that come closest to it. This is Magic The Gathering Online
It’s a direct video game experience that’s based solely on the tabletop card game. It’s almost identical, except you can play any player online, buy digital cards and everything else.

The game went live in June 2002 and it’s still thriving today. This piece of Magic The Gathering Software provides a nice alternative to the gamer that wants to play tournaments and casually, but doesn’t want to lug big card cases around everywhere.
